OUR HISTORY

The Coalition for Homeless Individuals (CHI) was formed in 2014 by service providers who are on the front lines of the state’s safety net. Our focus is to secure the funding necessary to give Massachusetts individuals experiencing homelessness a full continuum of support.

Since CHI’s founding, our collective advocacy has enabled us to:

  • Increase critical funding to support individuals experiencing homelessness

  • Ensure that funding goes to providers truly doing impactful work on the ground

  • Support our workforce with compensation that reflects the skill and services they provide

Today, our state faces a regional housing crisis, youth mental health crisis, opioid crisis, a rapidly aging population, more frequent extreme weather, and an influx of immigrants seeking refuge from danger across the world. Our system is experiencing an unprecedented level of need.

The members of the CHI stand united to end homelessness in Massachusetts so that no one is left out on the streets.
